Mrs. Myriam Calo, MBA

Myriam Calo is an entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in business development and management. In 2010 the birth of her second son, Mauro, changed her life forever. He was diagnosed with Bilateral Periventricular Leukomalacia, loss of white matter on the brain due to a brain injury at birth. He was later diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and similar to many cases of children with cerebral palsy, as a parent, she faced many challenges in identifying the necessary resources for her son’s rehabilitation and needs. That didn’t stop her from finding ways to improve Mauro’s health and quality of life. As a full-time mom and with genuine passion for continuous learning she started reading and researching to provide the best treatments and therapies for her child.  Mauro’s severe physical disabilities requires daily physical, occupational, speech and dysphagia therapies.  Mauro’s cerebral palsy didn’t affect his cognitive abilities which allows him to attend a regular curriculum at school. Additionally, he enjoys taking lessons on french language, art, chess and swimming for extracurricular activities. He goes to the Shriners Hospital for Children to obtain orthopedic treatments.  He has also attended The Institutes of the Human Achievement & Potential in Philadelphia for alternative therapy options and the Conductive Education Center of Orlando, Florida for summer camp programs. With Ms. Calo's vast personal and professional experience, she is helping and advising the TBI Warrior Foundation in various capacities to improve the quality of life of children with cerebral palsy and their parent caregivers.
