After graduating high school, Steve enlisted in US Army upon completing training his first duty station was the 307th Engineering Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, then transferred to the 7th Special Forces Group Fort Bragg NC

When his military service was over, Steve attended and graduated with a degree in Accounting from Sul Ross State University and later obtained his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.

Work experience progressed from staff accountant, tax director, controller, to his position at retirement of Chief Financial Officer, executive vice president, shareholder, and bank advisory board member.

Currently, he is also President of Reel Thanx Inc, a non-profit organization with a mission to take Wounded Service Members for weekends of fishing and relaxation on Lake Amistad

Steve is married to Heather and have four children who are all college graduates, and three grandchildren.
