SgtMaj (Ret) Hector R. Cerda

Born:   January 17, 1959 and a native of San Antonio, Texas
Retired: United States Marine Corps, 1 December 2007 
Rank: Sergeant Major (E-9)
Total Years of Active Service:  30 years

Since joining the Marine Corps in October 1977, SgtMajor Cerda served in a variety of command and staff billets and participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.  He served with 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division.  Later transferred to 1st Marine Brigade in Hawaii.  Followed by assignments to 1st Battalion, 25th Marines, 4th Marine Division; Marine Corps Base, Camp Fuji, Japan; Enlisted Assignments Headquarters Marine Corps; The Basic School, Quantico, Virginia; 1st Battalion, 10th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and Inspector-Instructor Staff, 4th Reconnaissance, San Antonio, Texas

After retiring from active duty in November 2007, he served as Deputy, Officer-in-Charge, Wounded Warrior Battalion, Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.
