Intern - Clinical Counseling
Allison Brewton, Veteran, USMC
Allison Brewton is a Marine Corps Veteran who served for over 5 years and deployed to Afghanistan. She was born and raised in San Antonio. She is a mom of a wonderful and very active (almost) 14 year old son who loves playing football, basketball and video games. She has a great family that has been supportive and extremely helpful during her journey.
After serving in the Marines in 2011, Allison returned home and started working for the State as a Vocational Rehabilitation Technician, assisting persons with disabilities find and maintain employment that they enjoyed. She was there for over 5 years, and for 2 of those years, she worked with clients that had suffered various levels of Traumatic Brain Injuries.
In 2014, Allison decided she wanted to do more to help, specifically Veterans, so she enrolled in college, completing her bachelor’s degree in Psychology in May of 2017. In April 2017, Allison was accepted into University of Texas at San Antonio’s (UTSA) Graduate program for Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and began the program in August 2017. Allison is expected to graduate in May 2020 as an Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)-Intern. Her hope is to work with Veterans and be able to give them the mental health care at a quality that they deserve. Allison chose this route because she personally saw how many barriers there were to getting quality mental health treatment, and this should not be the case for those who so selflessly served our country. Allison truly has a passion working with people and helping them to be the best version of who they are.
Allison is looking forward to working, and growing, with the TBI Warrior Foundation family!
